Podgorica, Montenegro ( 16 December 2019) -- Montenegrin citizens rightly expect a high level of competence, responsibility and efficiency in all professions of the justice system, Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Interior and Foreign Policy Zoran Pažin stated earlier today at the opening of the conference "Professional behaviour and responsibility of public bailiffs" in Budva.

"That is why fulfilling of these legitimate expectations of citizens is the only true measure of success of all professions in the judicial system and the success of the overall reform of the judicial system," the Deputy Prime Minister pointed out.

The Deputy Prime Minister pointed to the crucial role of public bailiffs in the implementation of rights and the satisfaction of justice, adding that the broad competencies of public bailiffs point to the particular significance of their responsible and professional conduct.

Deputy Prime Minister Pažin recalled that the latest amendments to the Law on Public Bailiffs have established high standards of competence for public bailiffs, who must pass both the judicial and the public bailiff’s exam, in order to deal with this significant activity.

The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed the recent Decision of the Chamber of Commerce Executives to boost the Code of Ethics for Public Bailiffs and bring it into line with the international standards in this area.

He emphasized that in every case, public bailiffs must show the expected high level of professionalism and responsibility, while undertaking any activity of execution or securing.

Only through professional, responsible and efficient work, public enforcement officers, just like members of other professions in the judiciary, can earn the trust of citizens and the economy and give their full contribution to the development and progress of Montenegrin society,” the Deputy Prime Minister concluded.
